Sharing pay, perks and interview insights

Help others know what a company is really like, and get free KoffeePoints for it. We ask a few one-tap questions about a company you work at, used to work at, or interviewed with. Every question is optional: Skip moves on, and closing the window stops.

When we ask

• When you add a company to your profile: about five seconds later, we ask what it actually gives you (its perks) and how good the benefits are. Talents add companies under Experience on Profile; shepherds in Experience or Edit profile.
• After a coffee chat: an interview-prep chat leads to the interview questions; a chat about pay, offers or promotion to the pay ones; any other chat to "Would you tell a friend to apply?" or pay.
• When you come back on a few different days, we may ask one set.
• After you apply somewhere through KoffeeChat, we may ask how the interview went.

It's small doses: one set of questions per visit at most. Apart from the questions right after you add a company, popups are at least a day apart. You can also answer any time from a company's page (Share your pay, I interviewed here) or from Experience on your Profile (Share what it's like).

Your KoffeePoints

• 3 KoffeePoints for each set of answers (perks, pay, "tell a friend" or the interview) about a company, once per set and company, as long as you answer at least one question.
• Up to 15 KoffeePoints a month. After that you can keep sharing, it just isn't rewarded until the 1st.
• You get the points whatever you answer. We never reward a particular answer.
• Points you earn last until the end of the month, like your allowance. How KoffeePoints work

Who sees what

• Nobody sees your answers, only totals, and only people signed in to KoffeeChat see those: no names, no dates, and never your own answer counted in what you're shown.
• Perks and "tell a friend" show once 3 people have answered, interviews once 5 have, as percentages rounded to the nearest 5.
• Interview totals are never shown to the company's own team on KoffeeChat.
• Your answer joins the totals together with at least two other people's answers to the same question about the same company, so it may wait until others share too. Then it goes in at the start of one of the next 3 days. So a change can't be pinned on one person or matched to when you answered.

Pay: ranges only, give to get

We ask where you're based and the currency you're paid in first (many people are paid in US dollars while working remotely), then your monthly take-home as a range, never an exact figure. The ranges shift with your level.

Pay is give-to-get: as soon as you share your own pay, you can see pay ranges on every company page, for 12 months. Deleting your answers locks them again. A range only uses answers that have joined the totals, from at least 5 other people, never yours. When a company doesn't have that many yet, we show what people in your kind of role earn in your country across companies, and say so. Amounts are converted at today's rates (Rates by Exchange Rate API).

Changing your mind

On the company's page, Delete my answers removes everything you shared about it. Points you already earned stay, and that company's questions don't pay again. Totals use answers from the last 24 months, and answers are deleted after 36 months, or straight away if you delete your account.
