Meeting links and instant calls

For shepherdsUpdated 16 Oct 2026

Meet someone outside your weekly hours: start an instant call now, or share a one-off time. Whoever opens the link first and confirms gets it.

Your weekly hours decide when talents can book you. A meeting link covers everything else: a call right now, or one time that sits outside those hours. You share the link, and the first signed-in person to open it and confirm gets the meeting. The link then closes.

Where to find itOpen Home

Meeting links is on Home and on Profile → Availability.

Start an instant call

  1. Step 1: On Home, press Start an instant call under Meeting links. On Coffee chats, it's under Meeting link at the top.
  2. Step 2: Press Copy link (or Share on your phone) and send it however you like: WhatsApp, email or a message.
  3. Step 3: Keep the window open. It says Waiting for someone to join… and checks every few seconds. When someone takes the link, it shows their name and Join the call.
  • The call is audio only, on KoffeeChat, for 30 minutes. It closes 15 minutes after that, like any other call.
  • An instant link nobody has taken closes an hour after you make it.
  • Instant calls are part of the audio call pilot. If Start an instant call is greyed out, email hello@koffeechat.com to join it.

Share a one-off time

  1. Step 1: Press New one-off meeting.
  2. Step 2: Pick a date, a start time in your own time zone and a length (15, 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes). Add a note of up to 200 characters if you like: the person who opens the link sees it.
  3. Step 3: Press Create link, then copy or share it.

The time can be anything from 5 minutes to a year ahead, outside your weekly hours too. It can't overlap a chat you already have or another open one-off link, and it keeps your buffer between chats clear on both sides. Need it sooner? Start an instant call instead.

While a one-off link is open, talents can't book that time (or your buffer either side of it).

When someone confirms, you both get an email (with a calendar file), the chat shows under Coffee chats → Upcoming marked One-off, and the link closes. If nobody has taken it 10 minutes after its start time, it closes. Someone who takes it in those 10 minutes is told how long ago it started, so they can join straight away.

  • Meeting links on Home and on Profile → Availability lists the links still open, with the time left (for example Expires in 42 min).
  • Copy copies a link again. Waiting room reopens an instant link's window.
  • The × beside a link cancels it: anyone who opens it then sees it was cancelled.
  • You can have up to 20 open links at once.
  • A link someone took shows their name, with Join the call (instant) or See chat (one-off).

How link chats count

  • They're free for the other person: no KoffeePoint, and they don't count towards their plan's coffee chats.
  • They don't count towards your weekly cap, and they don't stop that person booking you the usual way as well.
  • They don't count towards Pro on us either: only chats booked with you count towards the 3 a month that get you Pro free. Pro on us
  • They show as Instant or One-off in both your chat lists. Log the outcome and rate them like any other chat.

Can't make it any more?

Once someone has taken your link, the chat is booked, so you can't cancel the link itself. In Coffee chats → Upcoming, press Can't make it on the chat and confirm. We let them know in the app and by email, and their link page says This meeting was cancelled, with a way to book another time.

Opening your own link

You'll see This is your link with Copy link. You can't take it yourself, so it's a safe way to check what the other person will see.
