Message emails and Open profile

Choose whether we email you about new messages, and, for shepherds, whether anyone can message you first.
Where to find them
- In Messages, press Message settings at the top.
- Talents: also under Messages in Settings → Notifications.
- Shepherds: also under Messages in your Settings.

Emails about new messages
Email me about new messages decides whether we email you when someone messages you. When it's on, you get at most one email per conversation every 30 minutes, and only if you haven't already read the message in KoffeeChat. A shepherd's request to see your CV or plan isn't held back by that 30-minute gap.
With emails off, new messages still show in Messages, with a red badge on the speech-bubble icon, and in your notifications.
Open profile (shepherds only)
- On: anyone on KoffeeChat can start a conversation with you, even without booking a chat.
- Off: only people whose chat you've accepted, or who you've already messaged, can write to you. You can still write to anyone who has requested a chat.
To keep things friendly, each person can start up to 5 new conversations a day with shepherds through Open profile.
